I picked it up it spat out all its coolant but as I know these cars very well I wasn t to bothered as it was going to be one of those projects I all ready had another engine waiting in the wings which had been rebuilt in Japan with less than 3000 miles on it Being an aircraft engineer by trade I took the engine to work where it under went some tests. I pressure checked the engine to test for water seal failure but all was good held 13psi for 24 hrs. I then boroscope the inside to check for chipped tips an so on all was good the Japs did rebuild it so I was happy Next step was to take the car and the engine to the Man himself Carl Hayward at Hayward Rotorary We compression tested it first just to make sure and high 7s all round proved how good the engine really was, so the old water pump engine was removed and the new one fitted Next step was to replace all the pillow bushes and drop links and steering rack bushes this work cost over £700 while this was done we found the power plant frame to be cracked a common problem with rx7s but goes unnoticed on most so that was replaced with a good used one we then decided to replace the front sub frame as these can twist on older cars as was mine next step was to fit a stainless decat and some apexi fillters, hard pipes and blow off valve £350+ Then Carl talked me into going for a non sequential turbo set up which gets rid off most of those solinoid valves. the non sequential setup gives you a better power curve with better fuel economy and a hell of a lot more reliable power £300 We then fitted a 60mm alloy race radiator and silicon pipe work and a new thermostat to keep it cool £275 Then we fitted a Apexi ecu and commander and Carl took it out and mapped it £750 He said the engine mapped really well which is a good thing next step was the brakes so ebc red stuff pads drilled and grooved discs and goodrich stainless hoses all round £375 4 new toyo proxes for grip and I was off £400 Other work done was to change the fuel filter now if you know these cars well then you know how much of a pain it is to change these but worth doing So as you can see I have spent a fair bit to make the car reliable. now its not the best rx7 in the world its got a few dings around the body work and the odd bit of paint has lost its luster if thats the right word but it still looks good from a few feet away I dont think I have seen many rx7s with perfect paint and body work The interior needs some work the plastics in rx7s are as bad as you can get in any car and early jap plastic really was bad The door cards and handles and flaps are all intact wich is a minor miracle as these usaly fall to bits I dont think you buy these cars thinking they are going to be perfect but I think mechanicly this one is top notch and that makes a big diffrence when enjoying the car for its true sporting pedigree By the time this auction is over its going to be fully serviced have fully ajustable GAB coilovers fitted along with a good replacement diff as the old one is nocking I have a good one so I may as well have it done, all work will be done by Hayward As you may have noticed the tax and mot will be up soon so I will give it a new mot and 6 months tax before its sold so no worries there So to recap good engine so no rebuild worries 60 mm racing rad drilled groved discs ebc red stuff pads goodrich stainless hoses Gab ajustable coilovers new exedy clutch stainless decat with mazdaspeed exhuast (sound great not stupid loud) Apexi ecu and commander (mapped by Carl Hayward) loads of repainted and polished engine parts replaced the engine loom Rats nest vacuum pipes replace with silicon hoses new toyos all round serviced new mot and Tax It comes with a cd dvd player which has blutooth and satnav reverse cam compatability but I dont know how it all works why you would want this in a car like this is odd but better than looking at a square hole in the dash i spose I have forgotten loads of other stuff that I have done to it but im sure I can answer any Qs that you would like to ask I know these cars well so dont be shy Now the buying bit, YOU have 10 days so if you want this car then make sure you have a look at it first, your bidding to buy not to veiw after the auction is over. these are specialist cars and there old, I have been as honest as I can but theres nothing like looking for yourself and talking face to face with me about it I want the buyer to be happy with his car if you would like a test drive make sure you bring your driving license and proof of insurance May PX to make it easyer for you to pay (ebay rules!!) it`s not taxed.It drives very well and it`s also economical and cheap to maintain. There is some rust as you can see on pictures, the paintwork is not perfect there is some dents and chips but just usual as for an old car.I`ve replaced rear break shoes, spark plugs, rear anti-roll bar linkages and offside lower arm suspension, so the next mot shouldn`t be a problem.Tyres are still in reasonable condition, I will also provide extra set of steel wheels with good tyres(included in price). Fed 2011. The interior and exterior of the car is in fantastic condition, no dents, and no rips in the seats. I can find 1 blemish on the front bumper where the paint has been rubbed or flaked. This is shown in the pictures. It has a Bose sound system, alloy wheels with good tyres. Electric windows, air conditioning, sunroof, cruise control and a massive boot. The original sales receipt and thousands of pounds worth of other receipts and all MOTs the car has had. It has had a new turbo, new clutch and flywheel and new battery, but unfortunately it is not running right. I think an injector is blocked or needs replacing. This has happened to this car before, as there is a receipt to unblock 2 injectors. It was put on a diagnostic machine and it was a fuel problem. The last garage also noticed the drive shaft seals were leaking badly. The car starts and runs but sounds like it isn`t running on all cylinders. The buyer would need to tow the car or collect on a trailer. I am not a mechanic and I recommend you examine the car yourself to diagnose any problems. It is sold as seen, and with the problems fixed you will have a lovely car that has been very well looked after. Please study pictures for condition and ask any question giving me time to answer.
